This is a very nice performing hollow point. It is excellent for those who want a little more power than a standard 44 special, but not full house 44 magnum velocities. 900-950 fps is a good velocity for proper expansion with this bullet. 17.5 grains of H4227 gives this velocity out of a 7.5 inch Ruger Redhawk with 44 magnum brass.

Im not sure how the proprietor feels about folks publishing load data here so I wont but these perform like nothing else Ive found in my 4" S&W M29. I load them to 960fps and while I dont have any ballistics gel I did fire these into a row of gallon sized jugs of water and am sure that these will do an amazing job dissuading someone bent on doing no good. I even threw a few layers of clothing over the jugs and still got beautiful mushroom like expansion, no frag. Theyre also a nicely accurate bullet. I only bought 100 of them to do some load development with and actually got pretty luck with my powder selection and start charges and didnt have to do much "development " per se. Accuracy was easy with this bullet I was basically just fine tuning velocities. I had enoigh left for a box full and a speedloaders worth and these are what I keep in the case and cylinder of my bedside gun. Fantastic bullet!

444 Marlin Use

A few years back, I tired of using jacketed bullets in my 444 Marlin and sought a lead alternative. Since I've had the gun since the '70's, I had plenty of experiences with reloading for it, but few decent heavy hollow points that could be counted on to do the job. Matt's makes some interesting bullets.... and if you don't need the full locomotive power of the 444, some tinkering is in order. Results were all good. I don't share data..... that's up to someone else to discover like I did.
